Aquaculture Fish Farming
Aquaculture farming involves the raising of fish commercially in tanks or enclosures, usually for food. A facility that releases juvenile fish into
the wild for recreational fishing or to supplement a species' natural numbers is generally referred to as a fish hatchery.
Worldwide, the most important fish species used in fish farming are carp, salmon, tilapia and catfish.
There is an increasing demand for fish and fish protein, which has resulted in a need to commercially accelerate the growing of fish. Red Ants
have been involved in Agriculture for a number of years, which made it easier for them to extend their product range to include fish grown from
Significant research was carried out by the company to gather as much information as possible about this venture. The Company has spent
considerable resources to build and fully fit Fish Farms to embark in this business.
Project 1 – Eikenhof
Setting up the supporting Hatchery for the Fish Farming projects at Eikenhof, using the Biofloc Technology
system. This system enables the intensification of Aquaculture Fish Farming at a reasonable investment
cost. The holding capacity of the Hatchery can be expanded to any number of fish as there are 100 closed
tunnels available for the project. At present we will only set up three (3) tunnels that can hatch and grow
2.5 million up to 3.5 million hatchlings.
Project 2 – Eikenhof Farm Dam
A production of 20 tons of fish will be grown at Eikenhof in the irrigation dam to enrich the irrigation water with nitrogen from the fish.
Project 3 – Parys
A production of 20 tons of fish will be grown at Parys. These projects will be able to supply any number of projects, be it our own, or any outside B -BBEE project etc. with hatchlings of any number required.
